Scout Active Support

Scout Active Support allows people to give their time to Scouting on a flexible basis. People can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.

Latest update contains the following information: -

  • There will be a March 2024 version of POR that becomes effective for us all on the 1st April 2024. This will require us to put into place a number of aspects of Transformation ahead of the new digital system becoming available later this year. Apparently good progress is now being made on the new Digital System – but we currently have no clear dates and Compass will remain operational until about a month before we transfer.

  • We cannot move fully to the new Welcome Conversations until we have the new Digital System. However, we should now be starting to transition by forming a new District Volunteering Development Team Leader. The new Welcome Conversation Volunteers (formerly the Appointments Committee) will be applying the new guidelines at link: https://www.scouts.org.uk/volunteers/volunteer-experience/welcome/conversation-guide/.  Typically, these welcome conversations should be held as part of the Scouting meeting that the new volunteer is attending so that they can also been seen in action. Note: under the existing POR the GSL / Group Lead Volunteer cannot be part of these welcome conversations; although we expect this to change at some point during transformation.
  • I will be meeting with Malcolm and his team to work out how we bring in the new best practice over the next couple of months

Before this date, and I know I’m repeating myself, make sure that

  • no one is sharing an email address
  • email addresses are current and correct
  • everyone has an email address on the system
  • Make sure all training that needs validating is done or it will be lost when the systems change.
